By The Grace of Allah, MKA Long Island had the opportunity to serve over 250 people at the Interfaith Nutrition Network on Monday the 24th of December 2007. The meal was prepared by Khuddam made from Qurbani meat . MKA LI not only prepared the meal but khuddam also served the 250 people from 10:30am to 1:30pm the meal included rice, Aloo Goat (prepared by mka) , soup, punch and dessert. The staff of the INN expressed their gratitude and welcomed us back.
MKA Long Island is proud to work with the INN. From a small start and through the vision and determination of a small group of dedicated volunteers, The INN has grown to become the largest private social service agency of its kind on Long Island. The Hempstead soup kitchen has grown into a multifaceted agency that remains grounded on a single principle-that everyone would be treated with dignity and respect. Anyone who comes to The INN's soup kitchens receives a hot nutritious meal. The INN has a two year relationship with MKA long island including a visit by their representative to Bait Ul Huda. In the past MKA LI has worked with the inn on soup kitchen projects as well as a toy drive and are looking to work towards a clothing drive this year.
The executive director of the INN Jean Kelly not only expressed her gratitude but said that she hopes that other organization will follow our lead and work with he INN to support the less fortunate. May Allah enable us to help humanity in every way we can.
