MKA USA Response to the Oklahoma Tragedy

The leaders and membership of Majlis-Khuddamul Ahmadiyya USA, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Organization, maintain solidarity with the people of Oklahoma and Texas. We too acknowledge the pain of families in Moore and Newcastle Oklahoma as well as all the areas affected. Our thoughts and prayers are with them and we are supportive of them in their long journey to recovery. As believing youth, we recognize that there are many questions that come up when loss of life, property and peace of mind occur. In spite of these challenges as brothers, friends and neighbors, we support the devastated communities that are affected. We pray for their recovery and their overcoming of all challenges. We all belong to God, and should He call us back may He give strength to the loved ones we leave behind. As a youth auxiliary pledging service to our nation and countrymen, we are merging with Humanity First in providing volunteers to affected families.

Fact of the Day

The Holy Qur'an was not authored by Muhammad. It was authored by God, revealed to Muhammad, and written into physical form by his companions.
Hazrat Mirza Basheerudin Mahmood Ahmad (ra) encouraged everyone to live a healthy life style because a physically healthy person is better able to spread the message of Islam to the world. There are many ways to get yourself back into shape but don't do it in a boring way. Losing weight is all about reducing your daily calorie intake and/or burning them through exercise. Hiking is one way that is not boring and it gives you the chance to burn some major calories. Burning calories depends on many things (weight, height, age, time, and work done) but if you hike for one hour at a moderate pace you have the ability to burn (estimate) between 200-400 calories. At the same time you enjoy the beautiful scenic landscapes that are all around you and you never take notice.

Dallas and LA Majaalis have recently taken some good and long hikes to encourage their Khudaam the benefits of it. Even the National Amila at a recent meeting event in LA took a good long hike in the nearby San Gabrieal mountains after Fajr prayers. The experience for everyone who participated was physically demanding but it was all worth it because it allows you to understand Allah tala and his creation, and get some fresh air, and experience brotherhood, and burn some calories. So, plan a hike for your local majlis soon and be part of the hiking experience.

An Experience Shared by the LA Majaalis

LAKHUDDAMHIKEOn January 26th about 25 khuddam gathered at the Bait-U-Hameed Mosque in Chino California to offer congregational Tuhajad prayers at 5:15am. Followed by Fajr and breakfast. The program was to go on a hike at the Los Angelas National Forest Cattle Canyon Trail. Before leaving the khuddam made about 75 sandwiches for their regular weekly food drive and distributed them to the local homeless people. At 9:30am the khuddam set out to the mountain together as a Kafla in 5 cars. The drive was very scenic and enjoyable. Many stops were made on the way to enjoys the beautiful views and to take pictures. At our destination Cattle Canyon Hiking Trail, everyone got their backpacks together, and set out. The hike was 8 miles round trip but unfortunately we had to turn back at 2 miles because of the time. We did not want to get stuck there at night! We would have made it all the way to our destination which ended with The Bridge to Nowhere (literally) but we were enjoying ourselves too much. The challenging river crossing at many places took a while. We offered our namaz and had lunch along the river. Chicken Salad sandwiches. Yum! We left at about 3:30pm back to the mosque to catch Magrib namaz. The drive back was even more beautiful as we rode off into the sunset. After namaz everyone had dinner at a local Thai restaurant. Alhumdullilah the khuddam were very grateful for such a wonderful trip.
